Ngarai Sianok, Bukittinggi



Sianok Canyon is a valley steep (gulf) located in the border city of Bukittinggi , in the district of the IV Koto , Agam regency , West Sumatra . The valley is elongated and meandering as the southern border town of canyon Koto Tower up to the village Sianok Anam Tribe , and ended up in the district Palupuh . 



Sianok canyon has beautiful views and also one of the attractions mainstay of the province.
Sianok canyon in the ravine about 100 m, stretches along 15 km with a width of about 200 m, and is part of the fault that separates the island of Sumatra in half lengthwise ( Semangko fault ). Fault form the steep wall, even perpendicular and form green valley-the result of the movement of the earth's crust down (sinklinal)-drained Sianok rod (rod means river, in the Minangkabau language ) that the water is clear. In the era of Dutch colonial , the abyss also known as buffalo sanget karbouwengat or, because of the many free-living wild buffalo on the canyon floor.


Sianok rod can now be forded by using canoes and kayaks are disaranai by a water sports organization "Quraysh". The route taken was from the village Lambah to oblong Sitingkai villages Palupuh for approximately 3.5 hours. On the edges still found many rare plants such as Rafflesia and medicinal plants. The fauna found eg long-tailed monkeys , gibbons , hoop , deer , wild boar , leopard , and tapirs .
